NCP leader Jitendra Awhad allegedly claimed that Lord Ram was meat-eater. He made the statement while addressing a rally in Nashik. BJP came down heavily upon him over his remarks.
Kicking up a massive controversy, NCP leader Jitendra Awhad has allegedly said that Lord Ram was a “meat-eater”. Ahwad, who is also Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Assembly, made the controversial remarks while addressing a gathering in Nashik’s Shirdi. A purported video of the NCP leader’s speech has gone viral on social media, evoking sharp reactions from various quarters.
In the clip, the NCP leader was heard saying that during 14 years of his exile, Lord Ram lived in forest and that he used to eat meat as it was difficult to find vegetarian food there. Awhad’s remarks drew immense backlash from the BJP which slammed him for making objectionable remarks against Lord Ram.
“A leader of Sharad Pawar’s party is making objectionable and concocted statement against Lord Ram. He is claiming that when Lord Ram was in 14-year exile, he was a meat eater. I don’t know why he made such remarks and I wonder if he himself went to Treta Yug to see this. He used indecent language and hurt our sentiments. He tried to hurt the sentiments of crores of Lord Ram devotees,” BJP spokesperson Ram Kadam said.
Kadam further said that Sharad Pawar’s party NCP and Congress are making such remarks out of frustration as they are not able to see that a grand concretion ceremony of Ram temple is going to be held in Ayodhya on January. The BJP leader slammed Pawar, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray over their silence and asked why they did not object to the NCP leader’s remarks
